Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the SealTrail API and dashboard (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these terms.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use your data.
2. Service Description
SealTrail provides a cryptographic audit trail API. The Service allows you to:
- Log audit events via a REST API
- Verify the integrity of your audit trail using SHA-256 hash chains
- Query and retrieve events with cursor-based pagination
- Manage API keys and access controls
3. Account Terms
- You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and API keys.
- You must not share API keys or allow unauthorised access to your account.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify us immediately at hello@sealtrail.dev if you suspect unauthorised access.
4. API Usage
- All API requests must be authenticated with a valid API key using Bearer token authentication.
- You must implement reasonable retry logic with exponential backoff for failed requests.
- You must not attempt to circumvent usage limits, rate limits, or other service restrictions.
- We reserve the right to throttle or suspend access if usage patterns threaten service stability.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Store or transmit content that violates any applicable law
- Conduct fraud, impersonation, or deceptive practices
- Send spam, malware, or other malicious content
- Interfere with the Service's infrastructure or other users' access
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
- Use the Service to store regulated data (health, financial, or classified information) without appropriate safeguards
6. Payment Terms
- Free tier: no payment required, subject to published usage limits.
- Paid plans: billed monthly in USD via Stripe. Your subscription begins when you select a paid plan.
- Usage overages are charged at $0.50 per 1,000 events over your plan's monthly limit.
- You may upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your plan at any time from the dashboard. Changes take effect at the next billing cycle.
- Refunds are not provided for partial billing periods. If you cancel, you retain access until the end of the current billing period.
- We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice. Existing subscriptions are honoured until the next renewal.
7. Intellectual Property
- Your content: You retain all rights to the audit event data you submit through the API. We do not claim ownership of your data.
- Our platform: SealTrail, its branding, code, documentation, and infrastructure are owned by Zero Loop Labs Ltd and protected by intellectual property laws.
- We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service in accordance with these terms.
8. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
- Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
- We are not liable for any loss or corruption of data resulting from factors beyond our reasonable control.
9. Termination
- You may close your account at any time by contacting hello@sealtrail.dev.
- We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, with notice where practicable.
- Upon termination, your API keys will be revoked immediately. Account data will be deleted within 30 days, subject to our Privacy Policy.
- Audit event data is retained according to your plan's retention period for chain integrity purposes.
10. Data Processing
Where you use SealTrail to process personal data on behalf of your users, you act as the data controller and SealTrail acts as the data processor under Article 28 of the UK GDPR.

11. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will provide at least 14 days' notice of material changes via email or the dashboard. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
